BORICUA parents and
grandparents. Born in Chicago,
raised in Puerto Rico enriched
with the Puerto Rican Culture.
Salsa: Once the exclusive past-time of
Latinos, Salsa has taking the non-Latino
making it one of the most popular dances
of all time. It has an 8-count basic step
which, in its elementary form, moves
backward and forward, slowing it down on
counts 4 and 8.
Dance Instructor:
Milly "La Salsera Sensual"
Mambo: Pretty much the same as Salsa,
save for minor stylistic differences and the
movements, occur on counts 1 and 5 of
the 8-count basic.
Rhumba: An alternative to dancing
Bachata to slower, ballad-like Latin the
8-count basic step which, in its shape of
a box. Rumba is primarily taught in
ballroom dance studios today, but it is a
really good social dance to learn. It is
very versatile, and can be danced to a
variety of musical styles. Step of out of
the box, you can also integrate all of your
Salsa dance combinations.

Puerto Rico!
Cha cha: An 8-count basic step
consisting of 2/two slow steps and 2/triple
steps Salsa/Mambo and Swing steps can
be incorporated to your Cha cha
combinations. It can be used for Latin
music (which more of is being played in
Latino clubs today), as well as for other
popular forms of music.
Bachata: A semi-recent import from the
Dominican Republic, Bachata is danced to
the slower, ballad-like Latin songs. Like
Salsa, Bachata has an 8-count basic, but
instead of moving back and forth like
Salsa, Bachata moves from side to side.
Additionally, partners tend to dance much
closer to one another in Bachata.

Merengue:,Perhaps the easiest dance of
all in the sense that the basic step can be
step 1 time to each beat of the music, one
step after the next. If Salsa is one of the
most popular dances of all time, Merengue
is definitely running a close second.
Samba can be linked to a hybrid between
Salsa and Waltz, as it has rhythmic
"pulsating" action feel whilst
simultaneously traveling around the floor. It
isn't danced as much as it should be, but a
good Salsa dancer would do well to learn
it, as it will improve his or her overall
dancing.

Dancing and music go hand in hand, and together they benefit us in numerous ways. After
all the years I have spent dancing, choreographing, performing, teaching and with my
college education in Childhood, Adolescent, Social and Abnormal Psychologies,
everything combined have taught me a great deal of knowledge to become a better
dance instructor.
One of my theories is that everyone should learn to dance as early as six months old.
Moms and dads don't take for granted the earlier months, sing lullabies to your infant.
Some of the benefits of Dancing, Music and Singing:
  • Better development of motor skills
  • Better development of coordination
  • Better listening skills
  • Exercise and movement (which can help with weight loss, might help children with
ADD, ADHD, Autism and people with Schizophrenia; in older adults it might help
    delay Alzheimer's disease and Dementia)
  • Better your social skills
  • And it's lots of fun! (which can also help avoid stress and combat depression)
  • Remember that SPECIAL OCCASIONS require dancing...
So much more, if you are interested in knowing email me.
Now other "instructors" my try to sell you my recipe, but I have the original.
